Welcome

The Memory Clinic aims to provide highly professional diagnostic and treatment advice for degenerative and other neuro-cognitive disorders.

We also host a variety of clinical research projects for the benefit of those with neurodegenerative disorders, including mild memory impairment, dementia, (for example, Alzheimer's Disease) and Parkinson’s Disease.

Following a referral to clinic, a one hour 'initial assessment' appointment is set up. However, this can run over time, so please allow a couple of hours. You or your support person will be given as much time as necessary to complete this part of the assessment. During this appointment a thorough history is taken, including a medical, psychiatric and social background. Screening neuropsychiatric testing and routine physical examination will be completed. Appropriate blood and neuro-imaging tests will be requested as necessary. A report is generated and sent to your GP, and if you wish a copy is provided for your files. If indicated, treatment options can be explored at this visit. Follow-up depends on what tests have been ordered. Appointments will be negotiated by the clinic administrator. Further testing with more formal neuropsychometrics (conducted by a clinical neuropsychologist) or computerised testing will be arranged as necessary. Please feel free to ask the clinic administrator for any specific details.
